To share knowledge, tools and innovative thinking with business, governments, academia, individuals and organizations in order to catalyze behavioural change leading to more sustainable practices, increased competitiveness and a healthier environment.

Organizational Niche-Defining Our Business

The Canadian Centre for Pollution Prevention is a non-government, environmental organization that encourages actions that avoid or minimize the creation of pollutants-actions that foster a healthier environment and a sustainable society. C2P2's core business is the transfer of P2 information and serves as a catalyst for behavioural change. C2P2 enriches the knowledge of others so that they can include pollution prevention and sustainable consumption and production practices in everyday decision-making. Our activities span several service areas and we've completed projects across Canada as well as in the international arena. Our fundamental core business strengths are as follows:

• Pioneering innovative approaches through partnerships. Whether it is developing web based communication mechanisms, initiating on-line training mechanisms, using community based social marketing techniques to engage a target sector or working on projects in under serviced sectors or small and medium sized enterprises, C2P2 is leading new approaches on the cutting edge of sustainable consumption and production that set the national benchmark. C2P2 has partnered with many organizations to deliver projects that achieve measurable results. We have learned from past experiences to recognize the importance of collaboration and the ability to adjust to changing variables to attain positive project results.

• National Clearing House on Pollution Prevention - C2P2 serves as Canada's national/continental/international referral center and archive of sustainable production and consumption information including approaches, techniques, methodologies, assessments, and training focusing on pollution prevention. C2P2's work as a national clearinghouse compliments the Canadian Pollution Prevention Information Clearinghouse (CPPIC), a federal clearinghouse with a database providing Canadians with the information they need to practice pollution prevention.

• Canada's Pollution Prevention Network. Through tools like an on-line forum dedicated to sharing pollution prevention information, workgroups and a P2 Planner certification program, C2P2 is building a strong foundation for pollution prevention practitioners and leading organizations. The annual Canadian Pollution Prevention Roundtable coordinated by C2P2 is the premier forum for pollution prevention information sharing in Canada. The Roundtable serves as a key information link between federal and provincial P2 programs and liaises with other P2/CP Roundtables around the world.
