Roundtables
On June 15th -16th , 2009, the Canadian Centre for Pollution Prevention (C2P2), is holding the 13th annual Canadian Pollution Prevention Roundtable (CPPR), in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. For the past 12 years, C2P2 has hosted this important gathering of dedicated pollution prevention experts and practitioners to exchange ideas and experiences in addressing current environmental challenges. Please visit www.c2p2online.com/CPPR to view past roundtable information and 2009 CPPR details.
In conjunction with the Roundtable, the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) will hold its annual Pollution Prevention (P2) Award ceremony and banquet on the evening of June 15th to announce and honour the 2009 award recipients. The CCME P2 Award is the only environmental award specifically focused on outstanding P2 efforts and results, which is endorsed by the ministers of environment of all territorial, provincial and federal governments of Canada.
The CPPRs focus has been on the practical application of sound pollution prevention technology, methods and practices to address current and future challenges. The format and program are structured to maximize opportunities for discussion, network and exchange information amongst all participants. Attention is also paid to attracting students and young practitioners. For example, last year local high school and college area students were admitted free of charge to hear Severn Cullis Suzuki, a bright young leader of sustainable development, who was one of several featured speakers.
