Providing access to information that is relevant, high quality and up-to-date requires that information providers communicate and co-ordinate efforts. Effective information exchange improves information compilation, quality, utility and availability, not only for information providers, but for any users.

Some of our experience with information providers includes:

• chairing the United Nations Environment Programmes' (UNEP)'s Information Sharing Workgroup to foster regular communication between cleaner production providers.
• chairing the Information Sharing Group of the Great Lakes Regional Pollution Prevention Roundtable which has demonstrated success in piloting a broad range of information resources for technical assistance providers in the field of pollution prevention.
• participating in the organization and delivery of the Canadian Clean Production Information Exchange Workshop, to identify the actions needed to utilize global information systems to disseminate clean production information.
The C2P2 participates actively in information networks world-wide and shares the knowledge with members and clients including:

Canadian Pollution Prevention Roundtable
Now in its 9th year, the Canadian Pollution Prevention Roundtable brings together the strongest pool of Canadian pollution prevention expertise. The C2P2, responsible for launching the concept, continues to organize and host the event.

Canadian Coalition for Green Health care
As one members of the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care we are working with 17 other Canadian organizations toward catalyzing change for a more environmentally-responsible health care system. The Coalition has facilitated the first-ever 'green theme' at this year's Ontario Hospital Association Convention and Exhibition, the first-ever 'Green Health Care Award' for hospitals and development of a new website dedicated to Green Health care.

Hemispheric Alliance of Pollution Prevention (HAP2)
The project will continue to explore the potential of establishing a Hemispheric Alliance of Pollution Prevention (HAP2) by developing a formal relationship with the Canadian Centre for Pollution Prevention and the São Paulo Cleaner Production Roundtable (SPCPRT). By sharing the knowledge and experience of the Canadian Centre for Pollution Prevention, this project will strengthen the capacity of the South American partners. This work will initially focus on sharing experiences of small business in pollution prevention.

Municipal Government Workgroup
The Municipal Government Workgroup is a vehicle by which municipal governments can have their voices heard on issues related to pollution prevention, and where municipalities can work collaboratively with one another and with other partners to prevent pollution locally, regionally, and nationally. This Workgroup was launched in June 2001.

North American Pollution Prevention Partnership (NAP³) Pollution Prevention World Information Network (P2WIN)
Representing the Canadian Pollution Prevention Roundtable in the development of a North American Pollution Prevention Partnership under the auspices of the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (NACEC). C2P2 is representing the Canadian P2 Roundtable's interest as NAP3 develops an electronics industry challenge program - encouraging this sector to voluntarily meet toxics reductions within various electronic products. C2P2 will continue to develop P2WIN, an online network bringing together pollution prevention roundtables and cleaner production networks to strengthen partnerships, encourage innovation and take collective action. The existing web site will be strengthened with a focus on Canada, Mexico, and U.S. information exchange improvements.

North American Sustainable Consumption Network
Across the globe, the relationship between environmental quality and sustainable consumption - i.e., the purchase and use of goods and services in an environmentally, socially, and economically responsible manner - has begun to catch the attention of governments, businesses, and non-governmental organizations (NGO's). C2P2 is working with other partners in Canada, US and Mexico to build a formal network or forum to facilitate the exchange of information about sustainable consumption across borders and among different sectors of society (government, academia, business and industry, NGO's).

P3 Workgroup
The P3 Workgroup is a forum for C2P2 members to address issues encountered as they relate to pollution prevention planning. In addition to electronic discussions, the P2 Workgroup will meets annually, in person, at the Canadian Pollution Prevention Roundtable. The Workgroup was instrumental in advising and participating in the formation of the P2 Planning Certificate Guideline.

P2 Directory
The P2 Directory is fast becoming the strongest pool of Canadian P2 expertise and is one of the most visited pages on the C2P2 website.

Benefits of the searchable P2 Directory:
• Using the keyword and locator search functions, users can quickly and efficiently find detailed information about C2P2 members/sponsors including their sector expertise and products/services that they provide.
• Members and sponsors can profile their organization's achievements and services to a national/international audience on C2P2's Internet site.
