The C2P2 has unparalleled experience in the promotion of pollution prevention to a broad range of audiences. Not only does the C2P2 know what pollution prevention is and how it works, the C2P2 understands which messages deliver an effective communication product.
A unique organization in Canada, the C2P2 uses community-based social marketing strategies to design and implement successful communication tools. Audiences representing a broad range of environmental interests from businesses, governments, communities and the public have been reached with C2P2's efforts.
Communication strategies and products developed by the C2P2 have resulted in raising awareness amongst target audiences of the benefits of pollution prevention and increasing their preventive action.
The C2P2's communications have provided audiences with a clear understanding of pollution prevention concepts, stressed the practical benefits of pollution prevention and demonstrated achievable results.
Delivering the P2 Message
Prepared a marketing strategy to raise the Canadian Pollution Prevention Information Clearinghouse's profile and encourage its use with a broad range of audiences, including: industry, small and medium-sized businesses, general public, information-providers and all levels of government.
Canadian P2 Successes
The C2P2 writes pollution prevention success stories for Environment Canada's Pollution Prevention Success Story website. Over four years, the C2P2 has written 42 new stories and updated more than 80 stories profiling pollution prevention approaches and techniques. Click here for success stories by C2P2.
Enviroplace - Pollution Probe
The Enviroplace project, is a Pollution Probe initiative, that provides the people, businesses and community groups in Sarnia and Lambton County with access to environmental data and information about their community. C2P2 is the lead local partner organization and will continue to provide assistance in including local organizations and the public in the development of the Enviroplace website.
Green Health Care - Case Studies
In partnership with other members of the Canadian Coalition of Green Health Care, C2P2 wrote 4 health care facilities case studies focusing on their respective environmentally responsible activities. The case studies were printed in a booklet format and used to create a visual display at the inaugural Green Lane at the Ontario Hospital Association's conference and trade show.
Journal of Cleaner Production - Canadian Issue
The Journal of Cleaner Production serves as an interdisciplinary, international forum for the exchange of information and research results on the technologies, concepts and policies designed to help ensure progress towards sustainable societies. The publishers of the Journal of Cleaner Production have asked the Canadian Pollution Prevention Roundtable to design and develop a special issue that may focus upon some of the unique policy, technological, educational and interregional aspects of pollution prevention/cleaner production throughout Canada. C2P2 is coordinating the Canadian Issue on behalf of the Canadian P2 Roundtable by identifying and working with interested parties to develop suitable stories. The Canadian issue is expected to be published in 2005.
Pest Management
In partnership with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the C2P2 developed a national strategy for pesticide reduction at the municipal level. As part of the Strategy implementation phase in consultation with the FCM Pesticide Steering Committee C2P2 developed the Responsible Pest Management web site. The web site, http://www.pestinfo.ca, provides municipal governments and communities with access to information, tools and networks that maximize opportunities for pesticide reduction.
National Green Dry Cleaners Survey
Working with Environment Canada - Ontario Region on a project to expand the existing green dry cleaners website and profile more dry cleaners - Canada wide.
