The need for trained pollution prevention practitioners is increasing. Interest from professionals wanting to advance their pollution prevention knowledge and skills is expected to expand. Equally important, businesses are looking for reassurance that the professional they hire can help their organization implement successful change.

In an effort to address these issues, the Canadian Centre for Pollution Prevention (C2P2) has developed guidelines for issuing Pollution Prevention Planning Certificates, as a result of successful completion of a P2 course or equivalent. It should be emphasized that the certificate acknowledges the person’s completion of appropriate training and preparation of an acceptable a P2 plan and does not provide ongoing certification as a P2 planner. The certificate does not address the education, personal attributes and other skills that may be vital to working through the planning process.
